What Shotso stores, why, and how to get rid of it.
Last updated 8 September 2026
Your videos never leave your computer. Shotso edits and exports locally; nothing is uploaded, and there is no cloud to upload it to. The only things that reach a server are your sign-in details and a few counters: how many people use the app, how often they open it and how long they spend editing. Never what they are editing.
Signing in is optional. You can skip it and keep editing.
This is a count of time and nothing else. It records that you were working, never what you were working on.
The sign-in exists so we can tell how many people actually use Shotso, how often they come back, how much it gets used and which versions are still out there, and so we can let you know when something new lands. That is all it is for. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone, and there are no advertising or tracking scripts on this website.
The box for update emails is ticked by default when you sign in. You can untick it there, or change your mind any time from the profile icon in the app. Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link. If you would rather not decide in the app, ask us on Discord and we will switch it off.
Nobody else. No data brokers, no ad networks.
We keep your account details until you ask us to delete them. Install records older than two years get cleared out, since a count from that long ago tells us nothing.
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, including your account, in which case everything tied to it goes with it. Ask us on Discord and we will sort it within a month.
Shotso is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep their data.
If this page changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the Discord and update the date at the top.
Reach us on Discord. That is the fastest way, and where the rest of the community is too. You can also email us at contact@shotso.com.
